We’re Off!
After a snafu caused by a computer algorithm…I suspect…our trip is off to an earlier start than planned. United Airlines, our airline of regional choice, revised the first leg of our itinerary’s layover time in Chicago to go from 90 minutes to just under 50 minutes…for anyone traveling abroad, that’s about 25 to 30 minutes short of the least amount of time needed. Bottom line…we would have missed our connecting flight to Amtserdam…DAMN!
After calling United and talking through the automated prompts by asking to speak to an ‘Agent’ several times, we were able to reschedule out first and second legs to a day earlier so we now have to spend one more day in the Netherlands…darn…:)
So, why am I telling you all of this? Keep your cool when things like this happen and if you can be flexible, the airlines will normally try to accommodate fixing THEIR problem. AND!, if you find yourself in a similar situation, get on it right away! Check those emails and look them over carefully for any hiccups. There will be hiccups, you can assume it!
Our first stop…Haarlem, The Netherlands.
